THE PROJECTS
The new Velindre Cancer Centre project comprises the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of the one of the most innovative oncology centres in Britain. With an estimated extension of 60,000 m2, it will serve over 1.5 million people in Wales.
The new facility aims to be a benchmark for cancer treatment and research, including the least common types. The project is grounded on the highest quality standards and a wide use of the most advanced technologies.
Crossfire have been engaged by Sacyr UK and Ireland to supply and install the passive fire protection throughout the centre, as well as install acoustic barriers.
To enable a smoother construction phase, Crossfire initiated a Benchmark Wall which resulted in clear communication and transparency between the different sub-contractors.
This benchmark wall had a sample of the different penetrations penetration the fire rated partitions and floors, which allowed the different sub-contractors to iron out any queries they may have came across. The sample wall now allows a smoother construction phase and more clarity among the different trades on site.
